Introducing The Reel Bible 2024 Scholarship!

OVERVIEW

With support from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (“RAC”), The Reel Bible 2024 Scholarship is the first of its kind, offering 11 demo reels to under-recognized and under-resourced Actors in St. Louis, MO, and Kansas City, MO. Each scholarship fully covers the cost of editing by The Reel Bible, providing these actors with a professionally crafted demo reel, delivered with impact. This opportunity aims to increase their discoverability in the competitive acting industry, helping to advance their careers. By equipping under-resourced actors with this essential tool, we strengthen the entire Missouri acting community, positioning everyone to benefit from the Show MO Act film tax incentive signed in 2023.

A MAXIMUM OF 25 APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  If this number is reached before the deadline, the application will close and an announcement will be made on social media.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: 11:59 PM CST on Monday, December 23, 2024 (if maximum submission count not reached)

Scholarship Details:

• Number of Scholarships Awarded: 11

• Reel Genres Available: Comedy, Commercial, Drama

• Reel Options: Speed Reel (up to 60 seconds) or Standard Reel (up to 2 minutes) as determined at the discretion of The Reel Bible

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for a scholarship each Applicant must:

• Be at least 18 years old.

• Reside in the St. Louis, MO. or Kansas City, MO metropolitan areas.

• Be actively engaged in one of the following areas: on-camera work including film, industrial, or commercial.

• Have not previously received a scholarship from The Reel Bible.

• Income: Have a household income from the previous year below 400% of the federal poverty line, adjusted based on additional members of your household. Please refer to line 11 on Form 1040 of your federal tax return. Household = family members listed on your tax return, not roommates.

      -  Current Year's Income: Include your approximate current year's income to help accommodate fluctuations in earnings, ensuring our assessment reflects your most recent financial situation.

      -  Special Circumstances: Do you have special needs, such as emergency financial obligations? Please provide brief details in your application. These insights into your current needs are evaluated alongside other qualifications.

      -  Proof of income is not required.

Required Materials:

• Acting resume 

• Minimum of 3 scenes in your chosen genre

      -  via uploaded footage or Aircheck request

      -  lowest resolution allowed 680p

Video Submission Quantity: Maximum of 12 videos COMBINED (upload & Aircheck) per applicant. If selected, all submitted material may not be used in the final reel.  NOTE: You do NOT need to clip your footage before uploading it or figure out how to get a copy of your footage if it's already listed online. Aircheck service is included so if the footage is online, we only require a link to it.
